Hekab Be means “Open Road” in Mayan, representing our commitment to providing an open path for learning, discovery, and brighter futures.

The most important service Hekab Be Activity & Learning Center offers the community is a free after-school and summer school program for local children. Our activities include English, music, art, Mayan culture and language, natural science, physical education, environmental education, and homework help. Our goal is to keep children excited about learning while exposing them to the multitude of opportunities available to them, encouraging them to stay in school, and fostering possibilities for their futures.

We do not receive funding from local, state, or government sources and rely entirely on our donors. Your contributions can be designated for a specific project or program or can serve as a general donation to support our ongoing operational expenses. These expenses include teacher salaries, utilities, ongoing building maintenance, and classroom supplies.
